RCIA is the process whereby adults can enter the Catholic Church.
Classes to prepare for RCIA typically start in September and run until the week after Easter Sunday. We meet every Tuesday night at 7pm to 9pm every Tuesday in the Xavier Center, catty-corner to St. Patrick's church.
RCIA will start on September 3th, 2024 and run until April 22nd.

For entering the Church on Easter of 2024, the time to join RCIA is past. Please join us in September of 2024 when the new cycle of RCIA classes start back up. -
What is RCIA?
Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA) is the process by which both unbaptized adults and those baptized in other faiths become Catholic. It is a spiritual formation process, beginning each year in September, and culminating with entry into the Catholic Church at Easter time as the candidate receives the Sacraments of Initiation: Baptism (if not previously baptized in another Christian denomination), Confirmation, and the Eucharist. RCIA classes are held on Tuesday evenings, starting at 7pm am and last approximately one and three-quarter hours. The RCIA process is comprised of three phases.
- The Period of Inquiry is a ten-week phase consisting of lectures on key topics pertaining to Catholic doctrine, including Church Authority, Church History, Salvation and Grace, Mary and the Saints, Prayer and the Rosary, the Liturgy, and the Sacraments.
- The Period of Cathechumenate begins on the First Sunday of Advent, and extends through Ash Wednesday.
- The Period of Purification and Enlightenment, which extends from Ash Wednesday through the Easter Vigil and Mystagogy.

If you want to hear what the church teaches, straight from the horse's mouth, as it were, you can consult the Catechism of the Catholic Church on the Vatican website. The Catechism serves as a summary of the Faith handed on to the Apostles down through the ages up until the present time.
