We hold baptism classes once a month, usually the first Sunday of the month, by reservation only. If you are planning on having your child baptised here at St. Patrick, please contact the Parish Office at 903-463-3275 to schedule the class as well as the baptism. Please note: Due to limitations, if you are not a registered memeber of St. Patrick, we would ask that you plan on your baptism being at the parish you regualarly attend.
Sacrament of Baptism frequently asked questions:
Do I have to have two Godparents? No you can have only 1 if you wish
Does the Godparent have to be the same sex as the baby? No
What age is required to be a Godparent? 18 years of age
Does the Godparent have to be confirmed? Yes
Can the Godparents be non-Catholic? You must have one practicing, confirmed Catholic who, if married, has been married in the church. You may have a Christian witness as long as they have been baptised.
My Godparents are married? Great! They do have to have a valid Catholic marriage, meaning, they have to have been married in the Church by a Deacon or a Priest.
If I have two Godparents do they both have to be Catholic? No, however the one that is not Catholic will be considered a Christian Witness, not a Godparent.
